This is a fantastic pie to make for family picnics or like I did when you get invited to the next farm over for dinner like dad and I did! Our next farm over is a family of 6 that we love so much. There is a mom and dad plus 4 kiddos that call me grandma and always do special things for me. So this time I made a colossal pie and we took a gallon of Ice cream to go with!
It is a huge pie that I hope you will try!
Make your crust first and set aside:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup Crisco
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Ice water, start with approximately 1/2 cup, don’t make your dough too wet.
- FOR THE PIE FILLING:
- 2 or 3 lbs Peaches, unpeeled and sliced
- 2 or 3 lbs nectarines, unpeeled and sliced
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Make your pie dough first, line your big rectangular baking pan with the bottom crust, set aside
Preheat your oven to 375*
Now slice up all your peaches and nectarines into a really big bowl.
Now add your sugar, spices and flour, mix well
Now dump it into your big baking dish with the crust
now roll out your top crust, I always make a lattice, but you can make a sheet and just make sure you cut vents

Now brush the crust with heavy cream and sprinkle with sugar.
Now put in a 375* oven and bake for 45 minutes, check to see if it needs more time, then bake at 10-minute intervals till done. it may need over an hour depending on your oven.

Now carefully take the pie out of the oven and set on a rack to cool.
Now cut a big chunk, grab some vanilla ice cream, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this deliciousness!!
