12 Days of Christmas Cookies: Kolacky

These are Kolacky. They are a delicious rich dough with some kind of filling inside.

They are extremely popular where I grew up. I love to make them.

They need a little extra time because the dough needs to chill, but they are worth the extra time they take.

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups flour

Place the cream cheese and butter in your mixing bowl, cream together

now add the powdered sugar and flour.

Mix well till fully combined

Now get your plastic wrap and place the dough on the plastic wrap.

cover the dough with the plastic, then form the dough into a rectangle. (using the wrap to form the rectangle, see photo above)

Now place the dough into the refrigerator and chill for an hour or 2 or over night.

Now get your dough out of the fridge and let it sit for about 10 minutes

Sprinkle your counter heavily with flour (I use a sifter to distribute the flour, it is the best way)

Now roll the dough out into a big rectangle.

Now this dough takes some muscle to roll out, if it is to hard when you start, let it sit for a while then roll il.
