12 Days of Christmas Cookies : Thumbprints

Thumbprints are one of my favorite cookies for the holiday season. They are easy to make and delicious. You can use any jam you would like, though my favorite jams are apricot and raspberry. They seem to work the best. I hope you try them!

  • 3 sticks butter, unsalted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (if you use salted butter, omit the salt)

First place the butter and sugar in your mixing bowl then cream them together

Now add the vanilla, flour and salt

mix well till it all comes together

Make an egg white bowl and a bowl full of coconut

Now use a 4 teaspoon cookie scoop to make cookie balls.

Dip each ball in the egg white, then put it in the coconut. Roll around to cover

Now place your cookies on a baking sheet either lined with parchment paper or a Silpat, which is what I use most of the time.

Now press you finger into the middle of the cookie to make a place for the jam.

Now put your jam into a piping bag (so much easier to control the amount of jam and it makes it much faster)

Fill each cookie

Now place your trays of cookies into a hot oven

bake for 15 minutes or so

Now when they are done, remove from oven and let them cool

Now they are ready for you holiday cookie trays! Enjoy!
