This is delicious old fashioned Nutmeg Sugar Cookie. They are so versatile and easy to adapt to many toppings, this time I used my fancy sprinkles!
I have been making these cookies since I was 12 years old. Lots of times I put half of a maraschino cherry in the center. That is my favorite way because I love the middle around the cherry! Lol
I hope you try them!
- 1 cup shortening (I use Crisco)
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 4 Tablespoons milk
- 4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon nutmeg

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
Place shortening and sugar into your mixer, mix together well.
Now add eggs and milk. Beat well.
Now add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

Before scooping your cookies, place your chosen sprinkles into a small dish. A small amount goes a long way!
Now use a 4-teaspoon cookie scoop to scoop your cookies.
Now place each cookie in your hand then using your fingers, dip each cookie in the sprinkles as shown above.
Now place the cookies on a lined baking sheet, 12 per half sheet pan.
Now place in a hot oven
Bake at 375 for 10 minutes
Now pull the cookies out of the oven and let them cool, now remove them from the cookie sheets and place them on cooling racks to cool completely.
Now place on a serving tray and enjoy!
