12 Days of Christmas Cookies: SugarCookies

These are my delicious Sugar Cookies. Very simple to make. I have made these for years. They are always a big hit for Christmas cookie trays

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 cups flour

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Now prepare your baking sheets, line with parchment or use Silpat’s(that is my liner of choice)

Place butter and sugar into your mixing bowl. Cream well, now add the vanilla, baking powder and the flour, blend well.

Now form your dough into a rectangle using your hand to make it as straight as possible on all sides as this really helps to keep your rectangle as you roll it out

Now roll the dough out, about a 1/4 inch thick.

Now choose your cutters and cut out your cookies, trying to use every inch

Now when you finish cutting out your cookies, use a pastry brush(not a silicone one, use a natural bristle one) to brush your cookies with water, now sprinkle your sugars onto your prepared cookies

When you have finished sugaring your cookies, place them in the oven

Bake for about 8 minutes

Now your cookies are ready to be placed on your Christmas cookie try and enjoy!
