I had the opportunity to make special cookies with my grandsons . I loved spending the day with them and they did a fantastic job on their creations ! It is very special to bake with your kids or grandkids…especially if they have a desire to do it !
here is the recipe:
- 1 cup of softened butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla ( or flavor of your choice)
- 1 egg
- optional…. 1 cup of mini chocolate chips
in a sturdy mixer mix the butter and sugar . mix them till they are fluffy. (this is called creaming)
now add the flour, egg, baking powder and vanilla till well combined.
This will give you a nice dough to make your cookies.
On a floured surface, roll your dough to aproximately 1/4 inch thick. Cut out your cookies and transfer to a parchment lined cookie sheet.
At this point you may decorate the unbaked cookies with sugars, sprinkles or any decor you like. I brush the tops of the cookies very lightly with water. It helps make the sugars or sprinkles stick on the cookies.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes.
