Picnic Cake

This is Picnic Cake. I got this from my dear friend Chris when we were girls. It is a very simple old-fashioned cake that will satisfy your sweet tooth. This simple cake takes me right back to Mrs. Bykinishs kitchen with my friend Chris making this cake. You can make it with any canned pie filling. I used cherry which is my favorite. This cake takes only a few minutes to mix up and only about 20-25 minutes to bake. I hope you try this simple cake!

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (or your choice of flavors)

Preheat your oven to 375*

Prepare a 9 x 13 pan by spraying it with pan spray

Place all ingredients into a large bowl. Beat it together till smooth.

Place your batter into your prepared pan.

Drop the pie filling all over the pan as shown.

Now place into your hot oven and bake for 20 – 25 minutes. Test with a skewer.

Take out of your oven, let cool.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Now cut a piece, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!!
