Chocolate Sour Cream pound Cake

We love chocolate cakes! For years I would make a chocolate cake for my older son’s birthday, it was his favorite at that time. This is such a delicious cake! It is chocolatey with a delicious dark chocolate ganache. It will satisfy the chocolate lover in your home!

Preheat your oven to 325 *

  • 1 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

For ganache:

  • 1 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Place butter and sugar in your mixer bowl then cream together till fluffy. Then add eggs and cocoa powder and blend in. Now add baking soda, salt and sour cream and vanilla. Blend in, then add flour and 3/4 cup boiling water.

Now place your batter into your greased 12 cup bundt pan. Place into your preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, then check every 10 minutes till a skewer comes out clean. Remove the cake from oven and let cool till you can touch the pan, then turn the cake out onto your cake plate to finish cooling.

Now is time to make the ganache. Place your chocolate chips into a glass bowl. Bring your cream to a mild simmer then pour it over your chocolate chips. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to melt the chocolate, then stir with a whisk till it is completely combined. Now pour it over your cake.

Now, cut yourself a slice of cake, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!
