This is a fantastic pound cake! It is spice filled, apple filled and has apples on top and a delicious glaze to top it off. Everyone I have given some to loves it. I hope you will try this one, it is a fantastic, showy, holiday cake as well.
For the apple filling and topping:
- 4 large apples, cored and thinly sliced (peeled if desired)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
for the cake batter:
- 3 cups sugar
- 3 sticks softened butter
- 5 large eggs
- 3 cups all purpose flower
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla
First prepare the apple slices, the melt the butter into your skillet then add the apple slices. Now add the brown sugar and cinnamon and cook gently till they are softened, set aside to cool.
Now prepare your Bundt pan with spray and then flour. Set aside.
Now place the sugar and butter into your mixing bowl. Blend till creamed. Now add the eggs, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix well. Now add the flour and blend.
