Day One of the Twelve days of Christmas Cookies….. SNOWBALLS

These are one of my favorite Christmas cookies! I have been making them since I was 12 years old! Our family loves them and so did my customers! They are easy to make and very delicious, old-fashioned cookie! I hope you will try them!

  • 1 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts or pecans

Heat your oven to 375*

Place your butter and the powdered sugar in your mixer bowl and cream together. Now add the flour, salt, evaporated milk and vanilla. Blend well. (Add a little more evaporated milk if needed, I added about 2 Tablespoons more) Now add your chopped nuts and blend well.

Now place parchment sheets on your 2 cookies sheets, set aside. Now scoop out the dough with a 1-inch cookie scoop. Scoop them and place them in your hand. Roll into a ball, then place on your cookie sheet. These cookies do not rise much so you can place them close together on your sheet.

Now place into your pre-heated oven and bake about 15 minutes. While baking, place about 2 cups of powdered sugar in a big bowl. When the cookies come out of the oven, let cool for about 10 minutes, then place 4 or 5 cookies into the bowl of powdered sugar and roll them around till completely covered with sugar.

They are done and look very light brown. This is how they appear, and this is how they look after being sugared.

Now grab a cup of coffee and some cookies and enjoy!
