Day Six of the Twelve Days of Christmas Cookies…SNICKERDOODLES!

Snickerdoodles are an old fashioned, delicious cookie. I have been making these cookies with my mom since I was a little girl. There are many recipes for Snickerdoodles, but this is THE one we love! No other recipe compares to this in our house!

It is simple and cinnamony, easy to make. I hope you will try them!

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 2/3 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

First preheat your oven to 400*

Prepare 3 baking sheets with parchment or silicone baking mats, set aside.

Now mix 1 1/2 cups sugar with 2 teaspoons cinnamon, set aside.

Place the butter, Crisco and sugar into your mixer bowl. Cream together till light.

Now add eggs, flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, blend well.

Now scoop out the dough and place each ball into the cinnamon sugar and roll around. I use a pie pan for this, and do 6 or so at a time.

Place the cinnamon sugar dough balls onto your prepared baking sheets.

Now place into the hot oven and bake 8-10 minutes. I find 8 minutes is good, but sometimes I need to do 9 or 10 minutes, but no longer.

Let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets, then place the snickers onto the cooling rack and cool completely.

Now grab a cup of coffee and some cookies, then enjoy!!
