I love sugar cookie cut outs!! I make so many of these every year, and also do them with royal icing to make very fancy sugar cookies. They are beautiful and fun to make. Today we are going to make traditional cutout cookies with assorted sprinkles. I have fun with them, I hope you will too!
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 3 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 vanilla
Preheat your oven to 400*
Now prepare your baking sheets with parchment sheets or silicone mats.(You will need about 5 baking pans)
Place your butter and sugar into your mixer bowl and whip till somewhat fluffy. Now add the egg and vanilla. Now add the flour and baking powder.
Now place your dough on a lightly floured surface and form into block. Cut the block in half so you work with 1/2 the dough at a time. Now roll out the dough and cut out the cookies.

Now put your cutouts on your baking sheets.
I have a little technique I use to help the sprinkles stick to the cookies. I take my pastry brush and very lightly brush the cutouts with water, then sprinkle the cookies with the decorations. It works great for me, and the volume I bake, I have come up with tons of things like this to help the process!!

Now place your baking sheets in the hot oven and bake 6-8 minutes. Watch them towards the end, so you don’t end up with a burnt batch (don’t ask me how I know this!! lol)
Now take the cookies out of the oven and let sit on the pan for a minute or 2, then place the cookies on a cooling rack and cool completely.

Now grab a cup of coffee and a few cookies, then enjoy!!
